VT Black Alumni Founded Scholarships

Recognizing the need to support students and ensure future generations of alumni, a number of Black alumni have established scholarship programs. Additionally, there are scholarships named in honor of outstanding Black alumni.

Black Alumni Endowed Scholarship #860512

Managed by Virginia Tech, the Black Alumni Endowed Scholarship is a one-time award available for students who exhibit academic achievement. 

Overton R. Johnson Scholarship #883736

The National Pan-Hellenic Council of Virginia Tech is pleased to offer the annual Overton R. Johnson Memorial Scholarship. Students awarded the scholarship must be enrolled as a full-time student for 2024-2025 and are not required to be a member of a Greek-lettered organization.

B. Keith Fulton and Jacquelyn E. Stone S.T.E.A.M Scholarship  #861135

Managed by Virginia Tech, the Keith Fulton and Jacquelyn E. Stone S.T.E.A.M. Scholarship is a one-time scholarship awarded to undergraduate students who are majoring in science, technology, engineering, architecture or mathematics (S.T.E.A.M.) disciplines at Virginia Tech. 

William S. Alderson Memorial Scholarship

The Montgomery County-Radford City-Floyd County Branch of the NAACP and friends established this scholarship to support and promote the purpose and mission of the local chapter of the NAACP and provide support to students who need financial assistance to attain their educational goals. Because this is an NAACP related scholarship, preference will be given to members of the VT College Chapter of the NAACP.

Dr. Ben Stallings and Kimberly Stallings Scholarship #886011

Managed by Virginia Tech, the Dr. Benjamin Stallings Scholarship is a one-time scholarship awarded to incoming freshmen undergraduate students, preferably from Petersburg High School. 

Black Cultural Center Alumni Scholarship  #886208

The scholarship is intended to support and promote the purpose and mission of the Black Cultural Center and provide support to students who enhance the lives of those associated with the Black Cultural Center

Groove Phi Groove Scholarship #876905 (Operating scholarship);  #885513 (Endowed scholarship)

Managed by Virginia Tech, the Groove Phi Groove Scholarship is a one-time award available for students who exhibit academic achievement, and demonstrated financial need as determined by the FAFSA. 

Wayne H. Robinson Endowed Scholarship  #883810

Managed by Virginia Tech, the Wayne H. Robinson Scholarship is awarded to Virginia residents graduating from a Virginia high school who exhibit academic achievement, leadership potential, and demonstrated financial need as determined by the FAFSA. This scholarship is renewable for up to 3 years at a similar amount if students maintain a 3.0 grade point average (GPA) and demonstrate financial need. 

Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Eta Lambda Chapter Stanley Alvin Harris '80 Memorial Scholarship Fund #886094

The Omega Psi Phi Scholarship is a one-time award available for students who exhibit academic achievement.
