Meet The Board of Directors

Chair
Dr. Benjamin Stallings
Benjamin Zion Stallings II, M.D., of Silver Spring, Maryland, earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from Virginia Tech in 1984, and then went on to earn a medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia. Dr. Stallings trained at the University of Maryland for his internship and then completed his residency in Radiology at the Medical Center of Delaware in 1993.

Stallings is a board-certified radiologist who currently serves as Director of the Department of Imaging at Doctors Community Hospital in Lanham, Maryland. He is the president and CEO of Diagnostic Imaging Associates, a radiology practice dedicated to using state-of-the-art technologies to diagnose and treat all forms of ailments and diseases of the human body.

Stallings established the Dr. Benjamin Stallings ’84 and Kimberly Stallings Endowed Scholarship. He is a member of the university’s Ut Prosim Society, previously served on the Virginia Tech Foundation Board, and enjoys watching Hokie athletics.

Vice Chair
Calvin D. Jamison
Dr. Calvin D. Jamison is the vice president for facilities & economic development at The University of Texas at Dallas. His office is responsible for overseeing the facilities management, economic development, construction, real estate, and auxiliary services enterprises of the university.
UT Dallas has received more than 36 awards for building designs, LEED certification, and sustainability under his leadership.

Prior to UT Dallas, Dr. Jamison served as senior vice president and chief administrative officer at Hampton University. He previously served as CEO/city manager of Richmond, Virginia, where he oversaw almost $4 billion in new development.
Dr. Jamison received the Distinguished Alumni Service Award from Virginia Tech, and he was appointed to the Board of Visitors of Virginia Tech by the governor of Virginia. He holds bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate degrees from Virginia Tech.

Director
Wayne Robinson
Wayne Robinson is the Triad NC Area Director for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA.) He is responsible for growing the influence of FCA through its values of integrity, serving others, teamwork, and excellence, as well as developing the 4 C’s of FCA ministry: Coaches, Campus, Camps, and Community.

He is the Senior Pastor of New Millennium Christian Center, Inc. (NMCC). Located in Greensboro since 2004, NMCC is a non-denominational ministry.
​
Until 2016, he was the president and CEO of Career Path Management & Associates, LLC. Robinson’s previous careers have included being Senior Client Partner and Diversity Practice Leader for Wyndham Mills International, Inc. Robinson earned his finance degree from the Pamplin College of Business, Virginia Tech in 1980. He served on the VT Board of Visitors (2014-2018) and the VT Alumni Association (2009-2012). He is a recipient of the university’s Distinguished Alumni Service Award.

Director
Bevlee Watford
Dr. Bevlee A. Watford is Associate Dean for Equity and Engagement Emerita, Executive Director Emerita of the Center for the Enhancement of Engineering Diversity (CEED) and Professor Emerita of Engineering Education at Virginia Tech.
In her 34-year career at Virginia Tech she has secured over $20 million in support for CEED and other undergraduate and graduate engineering student initiatives. CEED has been recognized both nationally and internationally for implementing programs that have enhanced the success of all students.
In 2017 she was elected the first African American female President of the American Society for Engineering Education, a 13,000+ member organization. She is the 2023 recipient of the Black Alumni Association Career Achievement Award.
She holds bachelors, master’s and doctoral degrees from the VT College of Engineering.
In recognition of her work, students created an endowed scholarship in her name and the Engineering Education department annually awards an outstanding dissertation award to a deserving doctoral student in her name.

Lisa Carter Ellison
Lisa is an Assistant Vice President and Sr. Coverage Counsel at Zurich NA where she manages contract disputes and corporate litigation.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Finance from Virginia Tech and has the CPCU designation. Lisa received her J.D. from Loyola University Chicago School of Law and is a member of the Illinois and California State Bars. Lisa has over 30 years of experience in the insurance industry and has held both management and legal positions.
In addition to her corporate counsel role, Lisa serves as an Adjunct Professor at Loyola University Chicago School of Law where she mentors law students and serves on advocacy panels of judges. Lisa also volunteers at Willow Creek Legal Aid providing legal services to assist those who cannot access or afford legal counsel. Lisa has served as a facilitator for Junior Achievement and as a mentor for undergraduate business students at her alma mater. Lisa enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with friends and family.

Deseria Creighton-Barney
Deseria Creighton-Barney is a Human Resources professional with more than 20 years of experience.
She is the Director of Human Resources for Surry County. She is a very involved alumna of VA Tech, serving as Past President of the National Alumni Association Board of Directors.
She was the first black woman in the university’s history to hold this position. She has served as an ex-officio member of the Virginia Tech Foundation. She is a Tri-Chair of The Boundless Impact Campaign for VA Tech, whose goal is to raise $1.872 billion for the university by 2027. She also serves on the Alumni Advisory Board for the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences.
Deseria volunteers for the American Heart Association, in Richmond VA. She was a 2023 nominee for the Women of Impact for the Richmond American Heart Association. She was one of Virginia Business Magazine’s “100 People to Meet in 2024: Rainmakers”.
